Tuesday, May 29th, 2007 by Jean MarieToday I had one of those little life experiences that make people stop and say “wow”. It began yesterday at Tim Hortons where I begin every work day. I see, and have conversations with many of the same people daily but yesterday’s chat was a bit different than usual. I was joined by a man I’ve known for many years. We lived in the same apartment building at one time and he owned a second hand furniture store I frequented. Through the years we always seem to run into each other periodically. We talked about my father and the challenges people face when they have to move away for medical reasons. We talked about his aunt who just recently died after battling cancer, and how he sat at her bedside daily in awe of how she kept her dignity and humor until the very end. That conversation led us to the book “Tuesdays With Maury”, then onto other books and movies that teach simple life lessons and warm the cockles of our hearts. We started to talk about spirituality but I had to leave for work, so we agreed to meet the next morning to finish the conversation. (more…)
